Alrighty, I'm going to have to lay down some ground rules for this forum, make sure all you forum monkies stay in your cages.
First of all, a few outside links, that I suggest - nay, demand - that you all use.
www.dictionary.com - because you need to know how to spell shit.
www.wikipedia.com - because it is the most valuable resource for finding out the most random, esoteric, and obscure pieces of trivia ever. It's a geeks best friend.
www.google.com - because if you can't find it on wikipedia, you can find it on google.
Alrighty, time for some actual rules.
1) For the love of god people, use proper english when posting. I find it hard to believe that someone - anyone - can turn from a coherent medium of communication to an illiterate asshole because they think they can get away with "n3t sp34k." No, I refuse to believe that. So no more substituting "why" with "y", "you" with "u" and please punctuate your sentances. If you post one long sentence with no real punctuation or sentance structure, it kind of defeats the purpose of trying to communicate.
2) While we're on the subject of language, 1337 speak will only be tolerated when specifically referencing the title of the comic, or if you're trying to make fun of the leet speaking noobs we all know and hate. Yes, I realize that leet speak is in the forum post count ranks. It's meant to be ironic and funny. I'm not being serious.
3) Swearing will be allowed, as I'm not fond of that form of censorship - however, if you try and verbally abuse another forumite, it will be a bannable offense. And before anyone says anything, noob in all of it's forms, can either be an insult or a term of endearment, or something else altogether, so that'll be allowed.
<grade school teacher>Just play nice, and I won't have to put you in time out. </gst>
4) Even though net speak as a whole will not be tolerated, most abbreviations (like omfg, wtf, ftw, etc.) I'll let you use just because everyone uses those now. Hell, I think I heard my dad use omg the other day*
*this may or may not be true.
5) Lurk and get to know the forum before you post.
6) Do not spam. No blatant advertising.
7) No cross posting. Post your message once, to the appropriate forum and nowhere else or it will be locked or deleted without warning. This goes for double threads as well.
and the 8th, and final rule of fight cl - uh, I mean, the forums:
8) Respect the admin (ie: me (And me. -Spark)), for on this forum my word is law. I don't call myself "Lord of all the w00t" for nothing you know.
9) And for the love of god, don't make pointless posts.
Allrighty, those are the basic rules I'm setting down. Not trying to be an asshole or an power hungry despot or anything severe like that, just trying to make the forum more enjoyable (and understandable) for all. That, and I'm trying to keep pure n00bage to a minimum.
