General Mason stood in a conference room the people seated around the table were cloaked in darkness. The only source of light in the room was the projection screen behind him.
“Alright people, as of 0900 hours the president declared this a national emergency. It seems that the recent miracle cure for cancer developed by Doctor Kalschuer ((Name made up, couldn’t for the life of me remember the actual last name just remembered it started with a K)) has an unintended side effect. It turns people into some sort of… vampire, I know what your going to say, but all reports tell us that these mutated humans can not leave in day light, they are extremely hostile, feed on blood, lose all their hair, and are extremely pale. Early cases can be identified through a reddening of the iris, later cases can be identified by the loss of hair, pale skin, and lengthened canines. We have reason to believe that the Kalschuer Virus has become airborne. For this reason we are evacuating all major cities onto Red Cross and commandeered civilian vessels, we are of course screening all entrants before allowing them onto the boat. Our current plan is to go out onto the ocean for six months, and then send a few men back to assess the situation. One more thing gentlemen, it seems that a certain percentage of the population, about .0001%, are immune among these few is Doctor Robert Neville. He has elected to stay behind and continue his work on a cure for a virus. If you are religious, I ask you to pray for him, he will need it.”
In the year 2009 Doctor Valarie Kalshuer created a miracle cure for cancer, using a mutated version of the measles virus she planed on infecting everyone in the world with her new virus. Soon after the first civilian dose was released, reports of strange attacks and vampires began to filter in from the town it had been tested in. The government thought nothing of it, figuring it was just people responding poorly to the idea of a virus that cures things. However a few months later contact with the town was lost, a team was sent in to investigate. The team found nothing until they walked into an old warehouse that was shut off from the light. One man made it out, he had been gouged in many places but the doctors deemed him fit, although he did seem to have a case of the measles. That man was the first official case of the Kalschuer Virus. Within weeks the virus had gone airborne, entire swaths of the population were infected.
By March 23rd all American cities had either been evacuated or quarantined. This is the story of four individuals with a remarkable immunity to the virus, and how they survived in Boston.
Alright so, that's the basic background heres the basic requirements for characters
Have to be in Boston
Nice requirements eh? Seriously though, use your best judgement when making a character, try to be realistic. Oh and I'd like it if we didn't have any military perssonel.
The main reason for picking Boston is because it is close to, but not, New York. This way we can pick up Robert Neville's broadcasts but have to decide for ourselves whether we want to risk the drive there. It's also close to Virginia but that's... not important right now (wink)
Oh, I'd like to take a little vote here to. Do you guys want to do the standard kinda freeform RPing that this board does? Or do something with me as more of a GM? I don't care either way, but it would effect whether or not I make a character
